Story Mode Fantasy Zone II: The Tears of Opa-Opa

Prologue

Prologue

Long ago, far away in space...

It is Space Year 1432, ten years since peace was restored to Fantasy Zone, thanks to the hero Opa-Opa. However, many questions were left unanswered, such as the whereabouts of Opa-Opa's father and the existence of a "mastermind", rumored to be guiding the invading forces.

Once again, panic has come to the people of Fantasy Zone. A new enemy, known as the "Nenon", have attacked and begun constructing a large fortress. Opa-Opa must travel to Fantasy Zone once more, unable to forget what happened ten years ago...

Gameplay

Gameplay

Much like the previous game, Opa-Opa has two types of weapons: an anti-aircraft weapon and a bomb which drops downward.

Enemies leave coins when destroyed, and these can be used to purchase power-ups at the shop, either to upgrade Opa-Opa's ship speed or either of the ship's weapons.

Warp zones appear once the player has defeated front-line bases, and these allow the player to warp between the "Bright Side" and the "Dark Side" of the planet. The Dark Side has stronger enemies to face, but the rewards are much higher. In addition, there are no shops in the Dark Side, except for hidden ones. When the front-line bases here are destroyed, the boss will appear. Defeat the boss to move on to the next stage!

3D Fantasy Zone II: Link Loop Land

Prologue

Prologue

Ten years after the battle with the Menon invaders, a new planet has been discovered: the Endless Zone. Despite its dangers, this world promises vast riches to be found and has attracted explorers from all over. It is a true intergalactic gold rush! Upa-Upa now travels to the Endless Zone in search of coins to repay an absurdly large debt...

Gameplay

Gameplay

Endless Mode is a score-based game mode with no end game. Players try their best to get the highest score possible.

Upa-Upa must defeat continuous waves of enemies until a boss spawns, signaling the end of a particular stage. How long will Upa-Upa last!?

The ship is equipped with a standard anti-aircraft shot and a downward bomb attack. In addition, the ship will begin with a Weapon 3 and no time limit on its use: the 3 Way Shot. When hit, Upa-Upa will lose this weapon, but in time, a Repair power-up will appear. However, if the Repair power-up is not picked up, it will turn into a Fever Balloon. This power-up gives Upa-Upa the limited-duration 12 Way Shot. In addition, Upa-Upa will automatically draw in nearby coins.

Coins & the LINK Gauge

Coins & the LINK Gauge

The LINK Gauge will deplete over time, but you can replenish it by collecting coins.

When the LINK Gauge is full, the player will receive a high score multiplier!

Coin Stock

Coin Stock

Coins obtained will be added to the "Coin Stock" and saved permanently. Spending them in-game will not cause the stock to deplete, either.

When you start a new game in Story Mode, you can use the money in your Coin Stock for a quick boost. (This does not work in Endless Mode.)

In addition, as the player's Coin Stock grows, additional Story Mode options will become available...
